* Prospective LYS members should be prepared to play a 2 or 3 octave scale, whichever is appropriate for their instrument. (String players should play a scale that requires shifting positions)
* One fast and one slow piece, demonstrating contrasting styles and techniques. (That is, One piece that is in a staccato style and one in legato.)
* Some sight-reading may be required.
The Longmont Youth Symphony auditions the following instruments:
* Young musicians interested in playing with LJYS should have experience playing in up to 3 sharps and 2 flats and able to read dotted rhythms. (This is equivalent to late book 2 Suzuki if the musician can read at playing level).
