The LYS is pleased to announce the receipt of a $5000 grant from Xilinx, Inc! On behalf of LYS students and parents, the LYS Board of Directors would like to express its deep gratitude to Xilinx for their support of our young musicians and the community at large. To sustain our programs, a significant portion of our budget (nearly 50%) is covered by volunteer fundraising, grants from community foundations, donations from individuals, and corporate support, such as this generous grant. During these challenging economic times, Xilinx’s sponsorship means more than ever in enabling such LYS programs and services as need-based scholarships, concert venue rental, student retreats, and our Student-Mentors program, which involves students from music programs at local colleges mentoring LYS musicians. Leveraged with other support, this grant will be instrumental in furthering our goal of expanding participation of young musicians from disadvantaged communities. Thank you again, Xilinx, for your generous support!
